Join us on the Angeles National Forest as we continue our exploration of California's history! Over the course of multiple years, Passport in Time volunteers have teamed up with Forest Service staff to conduct archaeological surveys throughout the San Gabriel Mountains, a region known for its extensive prehistoric and historic archaeology. Archaeological site documentation has ranged from Native American resource processing camps and habitation sites, to cabin remains, wagon roads, and mining sites associated with California's earliest historic settlers. This year we will continue our journey into the past as we conduct archaeological surveys to locate, photograph, map and document further archaeological sites within the Angeles National Forest. Passport in Time volunteers will gain experience in systematic survey methods, map and compass reading, artifact recording, and so much more! Come join our team and you'll get a chance to learn about the unique cultural history of the San Gabriel Mountains - see you in June!
