Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 5 days

The Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps (NHBPC), in partnership with the research branch of the US Forest Service, has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement to restore and adaptively reuse the Halfway Ranger District Ranger Dwelling site within the Superior National Forest. The site was constructed in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Our work will involve repairing logs with Dutchman repairs, log stabilization and staining, window and screen repair and replacement, and working on other preservation and restoration on the CCC-constructed round log structures. This project is part of a grant-funded rehabilitation project that is occurring throughout the summer months. Volunteers will be working with NBHPC crews and technical specialists during the project. This is an historic gem, so we hope you’ll join us this summer to give it the tender, loving care it both needs and deserves!
