Session 1: September 1-October 31, 2022
Session 2: November 1 - December 31, 2022

Come on back to Kentucky Camp! We are seeking friendly and independent caretakers/site hosts for Kentucky Camp, an historic site on the Coronado National Forest. At the site, caretakers will be responsible for greeting the public and answering questions; light maintenance (e.g., adobe patching, light carpentry, grounds-keeping, cleanup of the facilities, etc.); and work with FS archaeologists on stabilization and interpretive projects. A rehabilitated adobe cabin at the site is available to the public for rental; caretakers will inspect it after renters have vacated, and will tidy up if necessary. Amenities available may vary; detailed information will be provided to those volunteers selected for the project. Each session will run for two (2) full months; applicants must be able to commit to the full time period for each session. Dependent upon staffing needs and availability, volunteers are also welcome to participate in subsequent or additional sessions throughout the season. However, this project will recruit only until all sessions are filled, so apply today!

Please note: all volunteers will be required to follow current, local COVID-19 guidelines to ensure their safety and that of site visitors and staff. This may include social-distancing, providing proof of qualifying vaccinations, and/or the wearing of masks. Due to the ever-evolving nature of the pandemic, this project and/or its sessions could be amended, postponed, or canceled. Selected volunteers are encouraged to remain in contact with project lead(s) to stay apprised of any changes.

Number of openings: 2 (one (1) person, couple, or family per session)

Special skills: Must be self-reliant and willing to work independently after orientation; preference given to those interested in history and willing to communicate with the public; general handyperson skills required

Minimum age: 18 years old
