Baca Campground History and Highlights - Lincoln NF - NM
by Wobbly Otter Outdoors
June 2, 2019
This is a video made about Baca Campground on the
Lincoln NF. The first three and a half minutes talk about the site’s history
based on a poster made with the efforts of the Scanning for History through Metal Detection PIT projects and which is posted
on the site’s information board. The site is an important place on the Forest
starting with prehistoric use by Native Americans, to historic period use
as a ranch, CCC camp, Unemployed Girl’s Education Camp, and temporary
internment camp for Japanese-Americans at the beginning of WWII. Enjoy!
