Dedicated PIT Volunteer - Doris Pettigrew

Doris Pettigrew, longtime PIT volunteer, passed away December 2nd in New Mexico. Doris had worked on 30 PIT projects in various national forests over the years and, together with her husband Dick, won the Forest Service Chief's Volunteer Award in 1996. PIT leaders who worked with Doris remember her enthusiasm, inquisitiveness, humor, and most of all her warm hospitality, which, as Mary Farrell on the Coronado NF said, "enveloped anyone who came within 100 meters of the Pettigrew RV." Doris will be missed. Our thoughts go out to Dick and the whole Pettigrew family.
